RGS (remote game server)

An RGS, or remote game server, is the server platform that hosts casino games and runs their logic, results and transactions on behalf of operators.

Instead of every casino hosting each game itself, the operator's platform connects to the RGS. The RGS calculates outcomes, records rounds and reports wins and losses back to the operator's wallet, while the game client runs in the player's browser.

Using an RGS lets one game reach many casinos through a single integration, and keeps the game's logic in one certified place. Studios either run their own RGS or distribute through a third-party RGS or an aggregator.

For a studio, the RGS is where certification usually focuses, because it holds the game logic that decides outcomes. For an operator, it is the system their platform talks to every time a player opens a game.

Example

A player opens a game in a casino lobby. The casino's platform asks the RGS to start a session, the RGS settles each round, and the result is credited to the player's casino balance.
